Now that I've fully recovered from my first Outside Lands experience, I can officially say that I am no longer a music festival novice. The music was amazing and Paul McCartney was outstanding. Listening to him sing 'Hey Jude' was an unforgettable experience, and that speaks volumes considering I probably had a residual high from all the pot smoking going on around me. Emilie Sande was my second favorite artist. She has an amazing voice and her lyrics are resonating.
I knew the music was going to be great but I was pleasantly surprised by the food and beer selection. Although everything was overpriced, it was delicious. Potato, pesto and garlic pizza washed down with a Rapscallion Belgium Golden Ale courtesy of Social Kitchen Brewery, need I say more? My mouth is already watering. 'Beer Lands' was awesome. There were some great local breweries on display and they all had one to two beers on tap and ice cold. 'Wine Lands' was a dud. The wineries were just 'blah' and pours were beyond overpriced. I'm not going to pay $15 for a glass of wine when the bottle is only $10 at Safeway. Beer was where it was at!
Overall great experience. I'd go again as long as I'm a fan of the headliner. With over 60 artists present I had probably heard of 15 of them, but it was definitely worth it. Outside Lands 2014....?
